thank you to those who donated to BEAKS!

I was able to send a cheque for $275 to BEAKS because of all of your donations - when i phoned carol pettigrew she was thrilled and said "you just saved a red-tailed hawk" - they had just had a fundraiser that was unable to come up with enough funds to continue feeding the injured hawk that she had taken in - as fate would have it, our donation came just in time for her to order more food and continue to care for the red-tail! She was very happy at the timing of it all. so thank you all once again for your generosity. i called her recently to make sure that the cheque had arrived and a volunteer there assured me that it had and that the red-tailed hawk was doing well!

paint pots - a sacred site

the stoney indians felt that a great animal spirit lived here at the paints pots. they used to come here to gather the ochre clay which they fired and turned into a powder. they mixed this powder with fish oil or animal grease and used it to paint their bodies, their teepees, and for their rock paintings. It is said that the stoney's could hear the sound of a flute or great warrior songs in the gurgling sounds of the water in the creek.
